Day 46 – Blanco, TX to Fredericksburg, TX

Today was long, hot, and rough with a lot of hills on small back roads. I was supposed to end up in Comfort, TX and was using the GPS on Bike mode. After 23 miles and about 2 1/2 hours I found out I was still closer to Blanco than to Comfort. That’s when I decided to take a different route to Stonewall, TX where I got a bite to eat and looked at staying at the only motel in the area. There was nobody home and left a message that I was waiting for a room, after no response after an hour I decided to go the extra 14 miles to Fredericksburg which made today’s ride the longest on the trip at just over 50 miles. With the hills it was a much harder ride than the 49 mile flat ride in Alabama.

We had a very hard rain earlier today with lots of thunder. I will have to see how the conditions are tomorrow morning to determine when to take off for my next stop.

Here’s a picture taken a few days ago in Wimberley, TX by Pat Beard.

Rick, Yesterday sounds truly frustrating though knowing you, you took it in stride. Still, I hope today is a better ride for you.

Thank you Marta, the last five days of hilly back roads have been the hardest so far.
