Day 66 – Silver City, NM to Tyrone, NM

Today turned out to be a much easier day than expected. Thought I had about a 12 mile ride which turned out to be only 5 miles. After yesterday’s long 52.5 mile ride an easy day was welcomed. Chief Ellen Harris picked me and the ElliptiGO up at the Tyrone main station and took me to her country home where she is hosting me in her guest house. I got to meet her animals, two big dogs, two horses, and a burro, all very friendly. She lives about 15 miles west of the main station so it will make tomorrow’s ride to Lordsburg that much shorter and saves me a whole bunch of hills. After going past the Continental Divide it is mosstly downhill from there.

In the afternoon we were invited to a wonderful dinner at the lovely home of some of Ellen’s friends. The hosts and many of the guests were also Volunteer Fire Fighters.

This the Silver City, NM fire crew and Chief Ellen Harris in front of one of her district’s fire stations.
