Day 73 – Superior, AZ to Gold Canyon, AZ

An easy 26 miles today, one hill to climb between mile 5 and 8 and the rest mostly downhill. Took less than 2 hours so got to the station around 9 am which was about an hour earlier than I had told them I would arrive. Went back about half a mile to the Gold Canyon shopping area to the Mountain Brew Cafe where I had a large Banana and Strawberry Smoothie and some nice conversation with some of the other customers.

Around 10 am I went back to the station, which is part of the Apache Junction Fire District, and introduced myself to the crew. It is one of the nicest stations I have stayed at during the trip and the crew made me feel right at home.

Took care of the daily maintenance on the ElliptiGO and replaced some ties holding the bottom bag compartment floor.

Here are some pictures of the Gold Canyon Fire Station crew.

Hi Rick, you make a great job, I follow your blog mostly every day from germany. On the pics I see a schwalbe marathon tire, is it a bigger size then the regular Kenda 20×1,5 , which pessure do you prefere? Enjoy your time and thanks for answer. Helmut

Hi Helmut, it is the same size but it is a puncture resistant Kevlar tire. Same pressure – 90 lbs.
