Day 40 – Bryan, TX to Lincoln, TX

Here goes another try at the blog.

Yesterday I was interviewed on the road about 8 miles from Bryan by a reporter from CBS Channel 3 who shot video all the way to the fire station. It was supposed to air yesterday at 6 pm but got bumped to today at 6 pm. Nobody here in Lincoln that I have spken to gets Channel 3 so I will look for it on the Internet later.

Today was a long and slow ride. 46 miles with lots of hills and some headwind most of the way. My host Edward Markert, the Assistant Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, took me to his house where I took a shower, did a small load of loundry, and had a nice lunch. Later he came back with his wife and daughter to look at the ElliptiGO and take some pictures for the local news. Afterwards we went back to their house where I had a good helping of King Ranch Chicken casserole.

Pictures below are of the Bryan Fire Station crew and one of the trucks at the Lincoln station.

Hey Rick, Keep the updates coming. Think many of us look forward to hearing about your experiences each day once you reach your destination. The closer you get to arriving in San Diego, the more I wonder what is next for Rick?? 🙂 Keep up the great work, and keep the reports coming, very cool to hear about your experiences from the road.

    Steve
